Ok, no, I’m not pregnant.
And yet, nursery decor is on my mind.
Of course, so are Max and Ruby, who I both love (because they keep my daughter occupied and don’t say the word “stupid” EVER) and loathe (because they are SO IRRITATING).
But, did you know that Rosemary Wells, the author of all of the Max & Ruby books has a wesbite? And that the Nick Jr. site also has a Max & Ruby section? With this cool project? (which will be coming soon to mi casa, I promise you)
Even cooler… she sells her original artwork and prints at this site. Pricey, to be sure, but a girl can dream. (and there is a $50 ish section here) (which is still not cheap, I realize)

Expressionery.com is one of my absolute favorite places to get things for people who have everything… because who doesn’t love custom stationary?
For a baby shower, give thank you notes with little cartoon proud parents.
For a wedding, thank you notes with a happy bride and groom.
For anybody, anytime, notecards with a character for the whole family (pets included).
For the crafty among us, custom kitchen stamps.
What’s not to love?
Use code “mslaug” at checkout to receive 40% off your order through November 4, 2009.

Much as I hate the name of this company, I dearly wished for a nursing cover when I was breastfeeding. Yes, you can use a blanket, but Hurricane Eva ripped that off as soon as she learned to coordinate her hands, once exposing me during Florida State University’s college graduation ceremony. But I digress.
Uddercovers is offering $32 off of anything in their store - nursing covers are $32, and sets with breast pads and nursing bracelets are $37. You pay shipping, which was $8.95 to my area - not a bad price for a nursing cover in a cute print.
Use code “backorder1″ after selecting your merchandise. No word on how long this offer is good, so shop quickly!

I was busy working on a baby gift post (since everyone I know is expected to pop any day now, seems like) and had a lovely list of books included.
Why books? Not only are they great gifts, but (I planned to say) Barnes & Noble’s return policy is awesome… they’ll take back books without a receipt or gift receipt and give you store credit. Awesome!
Well, turns out, I was wrong. That WAS the return policy. I went there today with a duplicate birthday gift and was informed (after waiting for the cashier to finish her 5 minute personal conversation with another employee - have a great vacation in Minnesota!) that they won’t do a return without a receipt.
Are you kidding me? The PRICE IS ON THE BOOK. I’ll even settle for a discounted return, in case the person who purchased it is a member and got a discount.
This kind of bogus “customer service” is why I buy my books online. I get so frustrated by stores that won’t accept UNUSED merchandise for STORE CREDIT and expect me to ask the person who gave me the book if they kept the receipt.
So, Barnes and Noble, you are off my list of great places to buy gifts.
(sidenote: this policy isn’t posted anywhere in the store or online. considering how different it is from their past policy, you’d think they’d do people, like the ones who got me this book, the courtesy of informing them.)

Batteries! That you can recharge with your USB port!
The gift that keeps on giving, and saves the environment too!
I know, I know, a totally bizarre and geeky gift, but trust me, the hubs will love them.
Have a nerdy husband who goes through batteries like they’re going out of style? Get your own here<.
